Mental Vacation

It’s been six days and I haven’t showered.
I’ve needed to feel the desert beneath my feet for sometime now. I’ve been thinking about this trip for months, but never actually thought that it would happen. Fortunately the opportunity came and we went.
I’ve wanted to go to Zion National Park in southern Utah for as long as I can remember. I love hiking and backpacking but I never have the time anymore.
This was an opportunity to get out on the cheap and break from the monotonous daily hustle I’m used to, a chance to become……unavailable.
I didn’t take a lot of photographs because I didn’t have to. I only took what I wanted to.
The trip was more of a mental vacation than anything else.
Seven states later I can say I’ve hiked Zion, including Kolob Canyon, seen the arches at arches national park and cruised through Moab. I even enjoyed a beer on the Vegas strip.

In six days spontaneity ruled.

love the last one.

when i lived in Houston, my mom took me to this place downtown called the Waterwall, i think. and it was this huge wall of marble with water running down the sides, enclosing a picnic/sitting area.

i saw someone propose while i was there. it was beautiful.

So glad you had a refreshing trip! Arches has been on my to-visit list for more than a decade. Your sixth and eighth photos in this series are probably my favorite; the movement of what I assume are car headlights makes the sixth image curious, and are those stars in the desert night sky in the eighth image? Awesome.

Beautiful! The colors are amazing. I specifically love the blue in the second one. The lights around the bend under the starry sky is absolutely amazing. The stars in the 8th one down are absolutely amazing and make me miss them, Soill doesn't have skies like the rockies. I'm glad you got away and enjoyed the spontaneity (and your new camera).

You know what freaks me out the most? Alexis, I and Meagan all posted within three seconds of one another. Jason, you've been caught fishing for comments. Sucker.
